What are the eligiblity criteria for Maharatna status ?
Eligiblity criteria for Maharatna status, a company must meet the following criteria:
- Navratna status
- listed on the Indian stock exchange
- Average annual net profit after tax of more than ₹5,000 crore over the last three years
- Average annual net worth of ₹15,000 crore for three years
- Average annual turnover of ₹25,000 crore for three years
- A global presence or international operations
- A board of directors recommendation for Maharatna status
- Government approval
Maharatna status companies have more authority and autonomy than Navratna or Miniratna. They can invest between ₹1,000 and ₹5,000 crore and fund projects with up to 15% of their net worth without government approval.
